Turn on two-step sign-in
Ask for a code from an authenticator app each time you sign in with your email and password.

- Open Account and security and press Turn on next to Two-step sign-in.
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app.
- Save your recovery codes somewhere safe.
Keep your recovery codes
If you lose your phone, a recovery code is how you get back in.
You need a password before you can turn this on. It applies when you sign in with email. Google sign-in uses your Google security settings.
